CAMMP Owners/Directors 


Erik Stitt is President and co-owner of CAMMP. He graduated with a Masters of Teaching from University of North Carolina - Charlotte and trained under Dr. Jack Piel. Erik teaches mathematics and robotics/automation at the middle school level. Erik has been recognized as Teacher of the Year for Northridge Middle School for the 2016-2017 and 2022-2023 and a highly effective educator throughout his career.


Crystal Pompée is Vice-President and co-owner of CAMMP. She graduated with a Masters of Teaching from University of North Carolina - Charlotte and trained under Dr. Jack Piel. Crystal teaches elementary age students. Crystal has been recognized as being in the top 25% of educators in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the state of North Carolina for reading and mathematics instruction, Teacher of the Year for Torrence Creek Elementary School 2018-2019, and a highly effective educator throughout her career. Crystal works as a Clinical Educator with the University of North Carolina- Charlotte teacher-mentor program.


CAMMP Founders

Dr. Michael Green was Professor Emeritus of Elementary Education at UNC Charlotte, where he taught courses in child development, theories of development, and elementary mathematics education. A graduate of Harvard, Dr. Green co-directs the children’s math programs at UNC Charlotte and area schools during the summer. The CAMMP program makes extensive use of the wireless computers at Providence Day School and was highlighted in a presentation to the 1999 International Conference on Technology and Education, Edinburgh, Scotland.   

Dr. Jack Piel was Professor Emeritus of Elementary Education at UNC Charlotte.  Jack taught courses in child development, theories of development, and elementary mathematics education. A graduate of Florida State, Dr. Piel co-directs the children’s math programs at UNC Charlotte and area schools during the summer. The CAMMP program makes extensive use of the wireless computers at Providence Day School and was highlighted in a presentation to the 1999 International Conference on Technology and Education, Edinburgh, Scotland.  

CAMMP Teachers

ALL CAMMP teachers have completed an intensive, graduate course and supervised internship in the CAMMP approach to teaching mathematics.
